Get updates when people share with you

You can get updates on new activities, like updates to a shared album, conversations, and partner sharing on the Updates page.

Find your updates

  1. On your Android device, open the Google Photos app Photos.
  2. At the top, tap Updates .
  3. Scroll to find updates in chronological order.

Tip: Unread updates are in bold.

Learn the types of updates

Updates to a shared album

You’ll get an update when the following actions are taken in a shared album:

  • You receive a new shared album.
  • A new person joins a shared album.
  • Someone leaves a comment.
  • Someone likes a photo or a shared album.
  • Someone adds new photos to a shared album.
  • Your own photos are automatically added to a shared album.

Tip: If you want to prevent content from showing up in Updates, you can mute an album.

Updates to a conversation

You’ll get an update when the following actions are taken in a conversation:

  • You receive a new conversation.
  • Someone replies to you in a conversation.
  • Someone likes a conversation.
  • You receive new photos in a conversation.
  • Someone leaves a comment on a photo in a conversation.
Partner sharing updates

You’ll get an update when the following actions are taken in partner sharing:

  • You receive a new partner sharing invitation.
  • Someone accepts your partner sharing invitation.
  • Your own photos are automatically shared with your partner.
  • You receive new photos from your partner.
Storage updates

You’ll get updates about your storage status:

  • Your storage is filling up.
  • You have low storage.
  • You’re almost out of storage.
  • You’re out of storage.
