Set up a new Pixel phone for your child to use.

Set up a new Pixel for a child
- Turn on your new Pixel phone.
- Tap Get started.
- When prompted to transfer data from a previous device, tap Skip.

Prepare your child’s new Pixel
- Connect to a strong Wi-Fi network.
- To finish the device set up for your child, select For my child.

Log into your Google Account
As the parent or guardian, you’ll be prompted to sign in with your Google Account.
- Enter your username and password.
- Tap Next.

Set up your child’s Google Account
- Select the child you want to set up the device for.
- Tap Next.
- Sign in with your child’s Google Account.
- Choose a parent or guardian who manages the device.
- Tap Next.
Tip: If the child you set up the phone for doesn’t have a Google Account yet, tap Create account for my child.

Set up parental controls
You can start to set up parental controls for your child’s device.
- Tap Let’s do this.
- Review the supervision settings on your child’s device for:
- Google Play
- Google Chrome
- Google Search
- Tap to expand and choose settings.
- When you’re satisfied with the filters you’ve chosen, tap Next.
- Review apps that come with the device.
- Uncheck the ones you don’t want installed on your child’s device.
- Tap Next.

Set up supervision features
You can choose to set up daily screen time limits and nightly downtime for your child’s device.
- Tap Set up.
- Follow the on-screen instructions.
To manage your child’s settings from the Family Link app on your own device, tap Install Next.
Tip: You can also adjust settings from the Parental Controls app on your child’s Pixel phone.

Finish setup
- Tap You got this.
- Review Google services and acknowledge them.
- Download a SIM for your child’s device. You can also choose to set up Google Assistant on their phone.
- When you finish the set up for your child’s Pixel phone, tap Let’s go.
Step 8 of 8
Your child’s Pixel phone has apps and widgets available to guide them. The Pixel phone includes a default wallpaper and contact widgets to easily contact a parent from the home screen.
