Use your fingerprint to unlock your Pixel phone or verify it’s you when you sign in to apps or approve a purchase.

- Open the Settings app .
- Tap Security & privacy.

Tap Device unlock.

Tap Fingerprint & Face Unlock.

Important: If you don’t already have a screen lock set up, you’ll be asked to add a backup PIN, pattern, or password.
Tap Fingerprint Unlock.

- Review how Fingerprint Unlock works.
- Scroll down.
- Tap I agree.

On the next screen, you’ll be prompted to set up your fingerprint. Tap Start.

Touch and hold your finger on the sensor until the sensor lights up and you feel a vibration from your device.
Tip: If you encounter an issue when you scan your fingerprint, it could be due to bright, outdoor sunlight or a thick screen protector.

- Lift your finger
- Touch and hold your finger on the sensor each time the fingerprint icon moves.
- Change the position of your finger slightly each time. Make sure to place the sides of your finger on the sensor when prompted.
Tip: If your fingers are excessively dry, for best results, moisturize before you scan.

After your fingerprint is added, tap Done.
Tip: To use your other hands or fingers to easily unlock your screen, you can also add additional fingerprints.
