Transfer content, data, and settings to your new Pixel phone with a backup from a Google Account on a previous device.

Get ready to transfer data
Important: A Google Account is recommended. Otherwise, some existing apps won’t automatically download on your new Pixel.
Before you transfer data from a backup to your new Pixel, make sure you have the following items:
- Your last device with a recent backup for your apps and data
- A strong Wi-Fi connection
- Your new, fully charged Pixel device
- SIM card tool

Turn on your Pixel
To restore your data from a backup, turn on your new Pixel and tap Get started. Then, tap Skip.

Prepare your Pixel
- Connect to a strong Wi-Fi network.
- Sign in to your Google Account.
- On your Pixel, enter your Google Account password.
- Tap Next.
- Set up your SIM.
- If available, tap Download eSIM to set up an eSIM from your carrier.
- If you have a SIM card and didn’t put it in yet, insert it into the SIM card slot tray with a SIM card tool.
- To transfer your SIM card to your Pixel, follow the on-screen instructions.
- To set a PIN, follow the on-screen instructions.
If you want to set up your Pixel without a SIM or eSIM, tap Skip.

Restore apps and data
- To copy data from a backup, tap Next.
- Select the backup device you want to restore your data from.
- Enter the PIN from your old device.
- Choose what data to copy from your existing backup, including apps, photos, contacts, and more.
- Tap Restore.
Step 5 of 6
Finish setup
During setup, you can turn on Gemini, your built-in AI assistant on your Pixel.
Tap Use Gemini. Learn what you can do with your Gemini mobile app.
You can set up more features now or find them later in the Settings app . You can use your new Pixel now.
