Even if you're not connected to the internet, you can still do lots of things with your Pixel Slate.
Notes:
- Some offline apps and services won’t work in Incognito or guest mode.
- If you're using Gmail with your work or school account, you can ask your admin to help change your Gmail offline settings.
Check your email
You can read, respond to, and search your Gmail messages even when you aren't connected to the Internet by visiting mail.google.com. To set it up:
- Open Chrome . Note: Gmail offline will not work in Incognito mode.
- Go to Gmail offline settings.
- Check "Enable offline mail."
- Choose your settings, such as how many days of messages you want to sync.
- Select Save changes.
- To use Gmail when you’re not connected to the Internet, go to mail.google.com.
Note: When you send emails offline, your email goes into a new "Outbox" folder and gets sent as soon as you go back online. Learn more about using Gmail offline.
Check your schedule
You can see your calendar and respond to event invitations while you're offline. First, turn on Google Calendar offline:
- In laptop mode: In the corner of your screen, select the Launcher Up arrow
In tablet mode: Go to your Home screen. To get there, go to the bottom left corner of your screen and tap the Launcher - Select the Google Calendar app
- On the top right, select Settings Offline.
- In the window that appears, select Enable. You'll see a message showing that your calendar is syncing.
- Select Settings . When you see a green check mark, your calendar can be viewed offline.
To see your calendar when you're not connected to the Internet, open the Google Calendar app . Learn more about using Google Calendar offline.
Play movies, music, or games
Some apps and services allow you to download your favorite shows to watch later offline. Here's how you can watch offline with Google Play Movies & TV:

First, buy a movie or TV show on the Google Play Movies & TV app.
Download a show
Next, download your movie or TV show to your device:
- In laptop mode: In the corner of your screen, select the Launcher Up arrow
In tablet mode: Go to your Home screen. To get there, go to the bottom left corner of your screen and tap the Launcher - Select the Google Play Movies & TV app .
- At the bottom, select Library.
- Select Movies or TV shows.
- On the lower right side of the movie or TV episode you'd like to download, select Download
The Download icon will fill in red to show your download progress. You can watch your video offline once the download icon turns into a check mark.

Watch offline
To watch a movie or TV show when you're not connected to the internet, open the Google Play Movies & TV app .
To remove a video, click Downloaded , then Remove.
You can download music to listen offline with YouTube Music Premium.
To listen offline to music that you've purchased or uploaded using Google Play Music:
- In laptop mode: In the corner of your screen, select the Launcher Up arrow
In tablet mode: Go to your Home screen. To get there, go to the bottom left corner of your screen and tap the Launcher - Select Google Play Music
- Select the Menu Music library.
- Find the song or album you'd like to listen to offline.
- Select More Download.
- Choose a download location, then select Download Now.
After the download completes, you can play your songs using your device's built-in media player.

You can play games downloaded from the Google Play Store, many of which work offline.
To find a game you have installed:
- In laptop mode: In the corner of your screen, select the Launcher Up arrow
In tablet mode: Go to your Home screen. To get there, go to the bottom left corner of your screen and tap the Launcher - Use search or scroll to find the game.
Take notes offline
You can take notes offline using Google Keep. First, if you've already taken notes, you'll need to save them so you can read and edit offline:
- Make sure your device is connected to the internet.
- In laptop mode: In the corner of your screen, click the Launcher Up arrow
In tablet mode: Go to your Home screen. To get there, go to the bottom left corner of your screen and tap the Launcher - Open the Google Keep app
- Wait for a few minutes. Your device will automatically save your notes so you can see them offline.
After your device saves your notes, you can edit them or write new notes offline. Any changes you make will show up in Google Keep the next time you're online.
Other tasks you can do offline
- View, create, and edit documents, spreadsheets, or slides using the Google Drive app
- View and edit photos with the device's built-in photo editor.
- Read web pages: Right-click the page, select Save as, then save the page as an HTML file. You can also use an app from the Chrome Web Store, like Pocket.
- Find more apps that work offline: Open the Chrome Web Store, select Apps, then check the box for Runs Offline.
