Keywords

The keywords for your search engine should describe your search engine's content or subject matter. Google uses this information to tune your search results to ensure they are as relevant as possible and to promote the most relevant pages for your search engine. Good keywords are words or short phrases that describe any of the following:

  • The topic of your search engine
  • The content of the pages you want promoted

Keywords can help target both results and ads to the content of your search engine. Check out these examples:

If you're using keywords and not seeing all the pages you expect to appear in your custom search results, try removing some or all of the keywords and see if the pages appear. Using too many keywords can restrict your results in ways that may not be optimal.
