Start a reading group as a teacher

To follow the progress of your students, you can set up a reading group for your class.

Important: Reading groups are currently only available on Android.

Set up a reading group

To track a child’s progress, you can set up reading groups.

1. Open the Read Along app .
2. Tap Menu   Reading group .
3. Read through the information about reading groups.
4. Next to "Create reading group," tap the Arrow .
5. To select the language for your reading group, follow the instructions.
   • Tip: To get a full list of languages, tap More languages.
6. Name your reading group.
7. Select your admin profile.
   • If you don’t have an admin profile, tap Create a new admin profile.
     1. Enter your name.
     2. To add a profile photo, follow the instructions.
        • Allow Read Along to take pictures and video.

Invite students to a reading group

1. Open the Read Along app .
2. Tap Activity.
3. From the drop-down, select your Reading Group.
4. Scroll and tap Settings .
   • To send the invitation on an app on your device, tap Invite children tap the app you want to send the invitation with. 
   • To copy the invitation link to your clipboard, tap Copy invitation link .

Delete a reading group

Important: A reading group can’t be retrieved after it’s deleted.

1. Open the Read Along app .
2. Tap Activity.
3. From the drop-down, select your Reading Group.
4. Scroll and tap Settings .
5. Tap Delete reading group .
6. To confirm you’re the teacher for the reading group, tap Confirm.
7. To verify your identity, enter your Google Account email and password.

8. To permanently delete the reading group, tap Delete group.

Edit a reading group name

You can edit the name of your reading group at any time.

1. Open the Read Along app .
2. Tap Activity.
3. From the drop-down, select your Reading Group.
4. Scroll and tap Settings .
5. Tap Edit group name .
6. To confirm you’re the teacher for the reading group, tap Confirm.
7. To verify your identity, enter your Google Account email and password.

8. To rename your reading group, enter the new name. 
9. Tap Done.
