Accurate geo-targeting examples

Example 1:

Advertiser ABC wants to target San Francisco and California (as a catchall) within one feed. There is no default content within the feed. Any user that is eligible for San Francisco will also be eligible for rows that contain California only.

Below is a sample feed.

1 “San Francisco,California,United States”
2 “California,United States”

If the user is in the following locations, which content is eligible to be served? 

Location Result
San Francisco,California,United States ID 1 or ID 2
Mountain View, Santa Clara County,California,United States ID 2
California,United States ID 2
New York,United States DCM Default Ad

Result: 

Users located in San Francisco are eligible to be served San Francisco and California content. Users located in Mountain View are only eligible for California content.

  

Example 2: 

Advertiser ABC wants to target San Francisco only, not California. Advertiser ABC should set a default content row with broader targeting to account for areas outside San Francisco.

Below is a sample feed.

If the user is in the following locations, which content is eligible to be served?

San Francisco,California,United States ID 1

Result:

Users located in San Francisco are eligible to be served San Francisco content. Users located outside of San Francisco are only eligible for the default content.
