Use custom dimensions in reports and automated rules

Just as you can apply custom dimension values to campaigns, ad groups, product groups, ads, or keywords, you can also use custom dimensions in reports and automated rules.

View reports

For each custom dimension and secondary dimension that you create, you can follow "Build reports" link to create a report. The report includes primary and secondary custom dimensions. You can augment the report by adding more attributes and metrics.

For example, you can build a report that shows the total number of clicks and conversions for each "Product line", and another report that shows the total number of clicks and conversions for each "Department".

Use custom dimensions as columns and filters

Create filters to show only the campaigns or other items that are associated with a specific custom dimension or secondary dimension value.

For example, you can filter the keyword report to show only the keywords used for marketing your "Outdoor furnishings" product line.

Sort reports with custom dimensions

Add custom dimensions as columns in your reports. Then you can use the columns to sort the table.

Use as attributes in Report Editor reports

When you create Report Editor reports, use custom dimensions as attributes to further sort and filter your results with greater precision. Unlike labels, only one value per custom dimension is associated with each campaign, ad group, ad, or keyword, allowing you to measure partial or full credit for conversions more precisely.

For example, a bar chart can show a bar for each custom dimension value.
