The GA4 average session duration is the total duration of all engaged sessions (in seconds) divided by the number of sessions.
For example, under Keywords in the page menu, you can click Search Keywords to view the average session duration attributed to each keyword during the report's time range. The summary row at the bottom of the table shows the average session duration for all keywords in the report.
When viewed in a reporting table, the GA avg session duration column shows durations in seconds.
Add this column to your report
Select one of the following options to add this column to a report:
- Add this column to an existing report.
- Add this column from a custom conversion column or custom formula column.
You will see the added metrics column in the report table. You may need to scroll horizontally to display the added column.
