Migrate labels to the new Search Ads 360

Labels automatically synced between the previous and new Search Ads 360

To help ease your transition to the new Search Ads 360, labels are automatically synced between it and the previous Search Ads 360. You can create, manage, and apply your labels in either Search Ads 360.

Note that there are differences (listed below) between the previous and new Search Ads 360 that may interfere with syncing some labels and their associations. For example, the previous Search Ads 360 supports more labels than the new Search Ads 360. If you've created and associated the maximum number of labels in the previous Search Ads 360, some of your labels and their associations won’t be copied to the new Search Ads 360.

Sync between the previous and new Search Ads 360 is distinct from syncing Search Ads 360 and advertising platforms.

Labels are copied without associated unsupported items

While the new Search Ads 360 will soon include support for most of the items supported in the previous Search Ads 360, currently there are some differences.

The new Search Ads 360 also includes items that aren't supported in the previous Search Ads 360.

In both instances, the label may still be copied, but the label’s association with an unsupported item won’t be copied. The association is automatically copied when the item is supported.

Examples

Unsupported account type

  • The previous Search Ads 360 supports Baidu accounts. The new Search Ads 360 doesn't support Baidu accounts yet.
  • In the previous Search Ads 360, a "Brand" label is applied to a Baidu campaign.
  • When synced, the "Brand" label is copied to the new Search Ads 360 without the Baidu campaign.
  • When Baidu campaigns are supported in the new Search Ads 360, the brand label is applied to the Baidu campaign.

Unsupported campaign type

  • Google Ads Display and Video campaigns are supported in the new Search Ads 360 but aren't supported in the previous Search Ads 360.
  • A "Bike Enthusiast" label is applied to a Display ad group in the new Search Ads 360.
  • When synced, only the "Bike Enthusiast" label is copied to the previous Search Ads 360 because Display ad groups aren't supported in the previous Search Ads 360.

Labels saved at different levels

In the new Search Ads 360, you can save labels at the manager account level or sub-manager account level. That is, a manager account or sub-manager account can serve as the owner account for a label. The manager account level in the new Search Ads 360 maps to the agency level in the previous Search Ads 360 and the sub-manager account level maps to the advertiser level.

In the previous Search Ads 360, you can create labels only at the advertiser level.

Labels that are saved at the sub-manager account level and advertiser level are synced between the new and previous Search Ads 360.

Manager account level labels won't be copied to the previous Search Ads 360.

Google Ads labels aren't supported in the previous Search Ads 360

Labels created or owned by a Google Ads account are available in the new Search Ads 360. Google Ads- owned labels aren’t copied to the previous Search Ads 360.

Fix sync errors with labels

The following list includes messages that might display if issues occur when labels are synced between the previous and new Search Ads 360.

Some label associations aren't copied between the previous and new Search Ads 360

Label associations might not be copied for the following reasons:

  • Some items are supported in only one Search Ads 360 (previous or new). If an item isn't supported, the label is copied without the associated unsupported item. For example, Google Ads Video campaigns are supported only in the new Search Ads 360. If a label is applied to a video campaign, only the label is copied to the previous Search Ads 360.
  • Labels can be applied to items in the new Search Ads 360 that don’t support labels in the previous Search Ads 360. For example, labels can be applied to client accounts and dynamic search ad targets in the new Search Ads 360. The labels are copied to the previous Search Ads 360, without their association to the client account or dynamic search ad target. (The client accounts and dynamic search ad targets are synced between the previous and new Search Ads 360 without labels.)
  • The previous Search Ads 360 supports more labels per item than the new Search Ads 360. In the new Search Ads 360, each item can be associated with up to 50 labels. The previous Search Ads 360 supports up to 100 labels per item. If you copy an item with more than 50 labels to the new Search Ads 360, only 50 of the labels are associated with the item. The remaining 50 labels are copied un-associated to the new Search Ads 360.

Couldn't copy this label and its associations to the new Search Ads 360

You've reached the limit on the number of labels that are supported in the new Search Ads 360.

The new Search Ads 360 currently supports a maximum of 1000 labels at each level.

For example, 1000 labels can be defined at the manager level, and each sub-manager level, which includes those inherited from the manager level.

Solution

Up to 1000 of the supported labels and their associations were copied to the new Search Ads 360. A sync error is displayed for each label that isn't copied.

In the previous Search Ads 360, look for unused or out of date labels and remove them.

Sync will restart automatically.

Duplicate labels aren't copied

If a label has the same name as another label in your account, it isn't copied to the new Search Ads 360.

Solution

In the previous Search Ads 360, rename the label.

The renamed label and its associations will automatically be copied to the new Search Ads 360.
