Upload bulk edits

Upload tips and tricks

Filling out and uploading Search Ads 360 bulksheets can seem a bit tricky at first. To make sure you avoid errors for a fast and efficient upload, take a look at the following tips and tricks.

Formatting of bulk edits and conversions

  • The names of campaigns and ad groups are case sensitive.
For example, Cars is not the same name as cars.

  • Keywords
    • Default to lowercase. The keyword Shoes will be read the same as the keyword shoes.
    • Plurals and variations are considered duplicates by Microsoft Advertising editorial rules. Plurals are acceptable for Google Ads.
  • To specify a fractional number, use a period as the decimal mark. If you use a comma to separate the whole number from the fraction, Search Ads 360 may return an error.
For example, use this format: 1,234.56 or 0.20
The following numbers will result in an error:
    1.234,56
    0,20

  • The values in the Row type and Action columns must be in English, as well as any bulksheet commands such as remove_content. You can create ads, keywords, and other items that are trafficked out to the engines in any of the languages that the engines support.

  • The Action column can specify one of the following commands:

    • create: Create the item. Leave the related ID column blank.
    • create|pause: Create the item as paused. Leave the related ID column blank.
    • edit: Update the item. Enter the item's ID in the related ID column.
    • pause: Bring the item on the search engine down temporarily. Enter the item's ID in the related ID column.
    • resume: Resume an item after it has been paused or deactivated. Enter the item's ID in the related ID column.
    • deactivate: Bring the item on the search engine down permanently. This action deletes the item on the search engine. Before you perform this action, you must be absolutely certain that you'll never need the item again. If you're not certain, we recommend you enter pause instead. Enter the item's ID in the related ID column.
    • read-only: Instructs Search Ads 360 to ignore the row. All data in the row will be ignored, even if the row contains updates for an item.
  • If you include and set the Status column, the setting (Active, Paused, or Removed) may be ignored on upload if it conflicts with the Action column setting. For example:

Status column Action column Status when uploaded
    Paused Resume Active
    Active Pause Paused
  • Upload one sheet at a time. Search Ads 360 only uploads the first sheet in a workbook containing multiple sheets, including hidden sheets.

Tips for faster uploads

  • Remove unnecessary columns.
Make upload files more manageable by removing unnecessary and non-required columns.
You must keep Row A, B, and the ID of any object you're changing.

  • If you’re making changes in multiple engine accounts, organize the upload file so all of the changes for each engine account are consecutive.

  • Specify the parent ad group and campaign.

If you're editing existing ads, keywords, and other items listed below, it's recommended that you identify the item's ad group and campaign. Search Ads 360 can process edits of existing items much faster if you identify the parent ad group and campaign. (If you're creating new ads, keywords, and other items listed below, it's required to identify the parent ad group and campaign.)

    When editing an existing...

    Include these bulksheet columns...

    • Ad group ID and/or Ad group name

    Negative keyword

    • If the negative keyword was created within an ad group, you also need to specify:
Ad group ID and/or Ad group name

    Ad group

When you download items in an editable bulksheet, the bulksheet contains the name and ID columns you need.

  • If you’re having trouble uploading while using Internet Explorer, try uploading with another browser.
