Offboard from Search Ads 360

Starting March 2022, Yahoo! Gemini engine accounts within Search Ads 360 will be migrated to engine track accounts. Learn more.

If you plan to stop using Search Ads 360, please contact your Search Ads 360 representative first. The representative will try to resolve any issues that may be affecting your experience.

If you still need to offboard, it’s very important to follow all the procedures below to avoid any undesired consequences.

Overview of offboarding procedures

Here's an overview of all of the procedures required to offboard from Search Ads 360. Please click the links to view the steps for each procedure.

  1. Remove or pause automated Search Ads 360 processes such as scheduled edits.
    This will stop Search Ads 360 from overwriting your new changes on the engines before you finish the offboarding process.

  2. Deactivate each engine account in Search Ads 360.

  3. Remove the Search Ads 360 clickserver URL.
    The steps for removing clickserver URLs from accounts that use shared templates are different than the steps for removing clickserver URLs from accounts that don't use shared templates.

  4. In each engine account, remove Search Ads 360 from the list of applications that are granted API access.

  5. After you offboard all of your engine accounts, contact support to deactivate the advertiser in Search Ads 360.

    Unlink Google Analytics

    If your advertiser is linked to a Google Analytics property, the link will no longer be used when the customer support team deactivates the advertiser.

    If you remove all of your engine accounts without asking customer support to deactivate your advertiser, you will also need to complete the steps to unlink the Google Analytics property to ensure that Google Analytics no longer sends data to Search Ads 360.

Remove or pause automated Search Ads 360 processes

Remove or pause the following automatic processes in Search Ads 360 if they are active in the advertiser.

Beginning June 29, 2020, customers who have previously turned on scheduled sync or who choose to turn on scheduled sync will no longer be able to turn off scheduled sync. Likewise, customers who have previously activated the conversion API will no longer be able to deactivate it.

Beginning February 1, 2021, Search Ads 360 will automatically turn on scheduled sync and activate the conversion API for all customers who haven't already turned on scheduled sync or who haven't already activated the conversion API.

If you remove an account, all syncs will stop (even scheduled syncs).

Automated process Steps to remove or pause automated process
Upgraded inventory campaigns

Pause inventory plans:

  1. Navigate to the advertiser.

  2. In the left navigation panel, click Inventory management.

  3. Click the Inventory plans tab and select an inventory plan.

  4. Click Edit ▼ and select Pause.

When you pause an inventory plan, Search Ads 360 stops updating the campaigns generated by the plan. The generated campaigns are not paused. After offboarding, if you add an engine account back to Search Ads 360, Search Ads 360 will treat any former upgraded inventory campaigns as manual campaigns, but you can restore inventory management.

Adaptive Shopping campaigns Stop automated subdivision of product groups in shopping campaigns.
Adaptive location targets Turn off adaptive location targeting in Google Ads campaigns.
Bid strategies

Remove or pause bid strategies:

  1. Navigate to the advertiser.

  2. In the left navigation panel, click Bid strategies.

  3. Select all bid strategies.

  4. Click Edit ▼ and select Remove (or Pause).

Cancel all uploads:

Remove all scheduled reports:

  1. Navigate to the advertiser.

  2. In the left navigation panel, click Downloads.

  3. On the Scheduled downloads tab, select all scheduled reports (or only the relevant ones).

  4. Click the Remove button.

Scheduled edits

Remove all scheduled edits:

  1. Navigate to the advertiser.

  2. In the left navigation panel click Scheduled edits.

  4. Click Edit ▼ and select Remove.

If you pause scheduled edits, you will continue to receive notifications that the rule was skipped, even if the advertiser and account have been removed.

Remove all automated rules:

  1. Navigate to the advertiser.

  2. In the left navigation panel, click Rules.

  3. Select all rules.

Remove Search Ads 360 clickserver URLs

You should remove the Search Ads 360 clickserver URLs from all of your supported and "Other" engine accounts.

Remove Search Ads 360 clickserver URLs from accounts that use shared templates

  1. Sign in to the engine.
    For example, sign in to Google Ads or Microsoft Advertising.
  2. Remove the Search Ads 360 clickserver URL from all tracking templates in the account. The clickserver URL starts with https://clickserve.dartsearch.net/link/ and ends with ds_dest_url= (see examples below).

    Note that accounts managed by Search Ads 360 contain an account-level tracking template, plus a tracking template for each Search Ads 360 URL template you created. For example, if you created URL templates for each campaign in Search Ads 360, you'll need to remove the Search Ads 360 clickserver URL from the following tracking templates in Google Ads:

    • The tracking template at the account level
    • The tracking template for each campaign

    If you created URL templates for individual keywords, you'll need to edit the tracking template for each keyword as well.

  3. For each keyword, dynamic ad target, and sitelink, remove the custom parameter that Search Ads 360 created for tracking. The name of the custom parameter depends on the type of targeting item:

    • dssagcrid: Used for ads, keywords, product groups, and dynamic ad targets

    • dssftfiid: Used for sitelinks

Tip: Use a bulk edit tool, such as Google Ads Editor or an Google Ads spreadsheet to edit all tracking templates and custom parameters in the account.

Examples

Example: campaign tracking template

For example, here's part of a row in a Google Ads bulksheet before and after offboarding (in an account that does not use Search Ads 360 URL templates):

Campaign column Before offboarding After offboarding
Tracking template https://clickserve.dartsearch.net/link/click?
{_dssagcrid}&{_dssftfiid}
&ds_e_adid={creative}
&ds_e_matchtype={ifsearch:search}{ifcontent:content}&ds_url_v=2
&ds_dest_url={unescapedlpurl}
{ignore}&campaign=[*Campaign*]
&keyword=[*KeywordID*]
{unescapedlpurl}
{ignore}&campaign=[*Campaign*]
&keyword=[*KeywordID*]

Example: keyword with tracking template

For example, here's part of a row in a Google Ads bulksheet before and after offboarding (in an account that does not use Search Ads 360 URL templates):

Keyword column Before offboarding After offboarding
Tracking template https://clickserve.dartsearch.net/link/click?
{_dssagcrid}&{_dssftfiid}
&ds_e_adid={creative}
&ds_e_matchtype={ifsearch:search}{ifcontent:content}&ds_url_v=2
&ds_dest_url={unescapedlpurl}
{ignore}&campaign=[*Campaign*]
&keyword=[*KeywordID*]&v=3
{unescapedlpurl}

Example: keyword without tracking template

Here's part of another row in a Google Ads bulksheet. In this example, the keyword in this row specified the following Search Ads 360 URL template at the keyword level: https://example.tracker.com/?c_id=123&t_url={escapedlpurl}

Keyword column Before offboarding After offboarding
Tracking template
Custom parameter {_dssagcrid}=lid=43700006138899296

Final URL https://example.com/shoes https://example.com/shoes

Remove the Search Ads 360 clickserver URL from accounts that don't use shared templates

  1. (Optional) To help you remove Search Ads 360 clickserver URLs from keywords, consider changing the engine account's parameter handling setting to Include full URL (unencoded).

    This setting causes Search Ads 360 to copy the original landing page URL to the ds_dest_url parameter in the clickserver URL. After you change the setting, Search Ads 360 will retraffic all keywords with clickserver URLs that look like this:
    https://clickserve.dartsearch.net/link/click?lid=43700001234567890&ds_s_kwgid=58700000012345678
    &ds_e_adid={AdId}&ds_url_v=2&ds_dest_url=
    https://example.com?staticQuery=1&dynamic={MatchType}&anotherStaticQuery=2

  2. Sign in to your engine account and strip the Search Ads 360 clickserver URL (that is, everything before ds_dest_url=) from all keyword destination URLs and any other objects that might be using Search Ads 360 tracking URLs.

For example:

Landing pages before you strip the clickserver URL Landing pages after you strip the clickserver URL
https://clickserve.dartsearch.net/link/click
?lid=43700001234567890
&ds_s_kwgid=58700000012345678
&ds_e_adid={AdId}&ds_url_v=2
&ds_dest_url=http://
example.com?staticQuery=1&dynamic={MatchType}&anotherStaticQuery=2
http://
example.com?staticQuery=1&dynamic={MatchType}&anotherStaticQuery=2

Remove the Search Ads 360 clickserver URL from "Other" accounts

In the engine, remove all of the Search Ads 360 clickserver URLs that you set as destination URLs from the ads, keywords, and other items that you were tracking.

Deactivate the engine account in Search Ads 360

In Search Ads 360, change the status of the engine account to Removed (available only to Search Ads 360 users with agency manager or advertiser manager privileges).

Caution: Once you remove an account, it cannot be resumed for the advertiser.

Remove Search Ads 360 API access

Do the following depending on the type of engine account you're offboarding:

  • Google Ads: Sign in to Google Ads and terminate the access to the Client Manager DoubleClick- DS3.
    Here’s a Google Ads Help Center article on how to remove account access.

  • Microsoft Advertising: Sign in to your Microsoft Account and revoke the Search Ads 360 OAuth access that you granted when you set up the Microsoft Advertising engine account.

  • Yahoo! Japan: Sign in to Yahoo! Japan and deactivate the username, or change the password for the username whose engine account is linked to Search Ads 360.

  • Baidu: Sign in to the Baidu Developers Console at http://dev2.baidu.com. Then go to "personal center" and click the button to "reset API token". This will de-authorize Search Ads 360 from using the API access associated with your account.

  • Yahoo! Gemini: Sign in to Yahoo! Gemini and revoke the Search Ads 360 OAuth access that you granted when you set up the Yahoo! Gemini engine account.
