Edit a campaign

Edit campaigns and other items one at a time

If you only need to update settings for one or two specific items, such as updating location targeting for a couple of campaigns, edit campaigns and other items one at a time. The changes that you make will be in effect immediately.

For a limited set of common settings, you can apply bulk edits to a group of campaigns or items all at once.
For example, you can specify a 5% increase in the daily budget and then apply the increase to a group of campaigns all at once.

Edit settings in individual campaigns and ad groups

To edit detailed settings of a campaign or ad group:

  1. Navigate to the engine account that contains the campaigns or ad groups.

Steps for navigating to an engine account
    1. In the left navigation panel, click All accounts.
What if the left navigation pane isn't visible?

    2. Click the navigation bar to display navigation options.

    3. In the "Agency" list, click on the agency that contains the advertiser. You can search for an agency by name or scroll through the list.

    4. In the "Advertiser" list, click on the advertiser that contains the engine account.

    5. In the "Account" list, click on the engine account.

    6. Click Apply or press the Enter key.

Search Ads 360 displays the engine account page.

  2. Click the Campaigns or Ad groups tab.

  3. Select the check box next to the campaign or ad group you want to edit.

  4. In the toolbar above the table, click Edit ▼ and select Edit details.

  5. Update the campaign settings or ad group settings.

Use the Settings bar to edit a campaign or ad group

As an alternative to the previous steps, when you navigate to a campaign or ad group in Search Ads 360, you’ll see a settings bar near the top of the page. This bar gives you an overview of campaign/ad group settings. If you need to make a change, you can click the campaign settings or ad group settings icon , and edit the settings in the inline panel that appears.

Special notes for editing Microsoft Advertising campaigns or ad groups

Note the following when editing a Microsoft Advertising campaign or ad group:

Campaign budgets

Microsoft Advertising campaigns can specify a daily or monthly budget. If you're changing from a campaign daily budget to a monthly budget, make sure you remove the old Daily budget amount. Likewise, if you're changing from a campaign monthly budget to a daily budget, make sure you remove the old Monthly budget amount.

Ad group targeting

Microsoft Advertising ad groups can override any of a campaign’s targeting settings. However, from Search Ads 360 you can only override device targeting and some types of location targeting. If you specify these additional targeting settings from Microsoft Advertising and then later change any targeting setting for the ad group from Search Ads 360, Search Ads 360 will traffic all of the ad group’s current targeting settings to Microsoft Advertising. This could have some unintended consequences:

  • Bid adjustments: Any bid adjustments for the ad group that you specified in Microsoft Advertising will be set to 0.

  • Location targets: Search Ads 360 leaves most of these settings alone. If you specify radius-based location targets and forget to to sync the changes into Search Ads 360, Search Ads 360 will remove the radius targets when it traffics your changes to Microsoft Advertising. Learn more about targeting settings in a Microsoft Advertising ad group.

  • Operating system (OS) targeting: If you’ve specified OS targets in Microsoft Advertising, Search Ads 360 will remove them from the ad group when it traffics your changes to Microsoft Advertising.

For example:

  1. You go to Microsoft Advertising and set radius-based location targets for an ad group and forget to sync the change into Search Ads 360.

  2. In Search Ads 360 you change the ad group to inherit device targeting from the campaign.

  3. When Search Ads 360 traffics the change to Microsoft Advertising, Search Ads 360 will:

    • Change the ad group to inherit device targeting from the campaign as expected.

    • Remove the radius-based location targets you set.

Edit individual ads

In some engines, editing ad copy or URLs causes the engine to remove the old ad and create a new one. The new ad does not retain the performance history of the original ad, but you can still report on the old, removed ad.

  1. Navigate to an advertiser or lower scope.
Steps for navigating to an advertiser
    1. Click the navigation bar to display navigation options.

    2. In the "Agency" list, click on the agency that contains the advertiser. You can search for an agency by name or scroll through the list.

    3. In the "Advertiser" list, click on the advertiser.

    4. Click Apply or press the Enter key.

  3. In the Ad column, hover over an ad and click Settings icon(Settings icon).
  4. In the Ad edit panel, change ad settings and click Save.

Search Ads 360 copies the changes to the engine. If you changed ad copy or URLs, the engine submits the ad for its approval process.

Edit individual keywords

In all engines, editing keyword text or match type causes the engine to remove the old keyword and create a new one. Learn more about editing keywords.
