Create and manage search engine accounts

Create a new search engine account, but don't start tracking yet

In some cases, you may want to prepare a search engine account in Search Ads 360 -- for example, create campaigns and adjust settings -- but wait a few days or longer before enabling Search Ads 360 to track activity.

If you want to create an engine account in Search Ads 360, but you're not ready for Search Ads 360 to start tracking:

  1. Create the account, but don't create URL templates at any level.
After you save an account without a URL template, Search Ads 360 hides the URL template field. In engine accounts with shared templates, Search Ads 360 adds a clickserver URL to the engine's account level tracking template. The field will reappear after you sync the account. This is to prevent Search Ads from tracking activity in the account until you're ready.

  2. Don't run a sync.

  3. In engine accounts with shared templates, if you haven't created an account-level tracking template in the engine account, you can go ahead and create campaigns in Search Ads 360. The campaigns will be trafficked to the engine account, but Search Ads 360 won't track activity until you create a URL template at the account level or lower.
For example, if you create Campaign A and specify a URL template for that campaign, Search Ads 360 will traffic and track activity for Campaign A. If you don't specify a URL template, Search Ads 360 will traffic the campaign but not track it.

When you're ready for Search Ads 360 to start tracking:

  1. Run your first sync.
Search Ads 360 will copy in any existing campaigns from the engine. If the engine already has an account-level tracking template, Search Ads 360 will copy that as well as the prefixed clickserver URL. Otherwise, Search Ads 360 will create a basic account-level template that includes the clickserver URL. This enables Search Ads 360 to track all activity in the engine account. Search Ads 360 will also unhide the URL template field at the account level.

  2. Optionally create other URL templates in Search Ads 360 or edit the account-level URL template.
