Add an editor
Important: If you use a Google Account through work or school, your admin may limit your ability to add an editor.
- On a computer, open a site in new Google Sites.
- At the top, click Share .
- Under Share with people and groups, enter an email address.
- Click Editor.
- Editors with a non-Google account can view a draft of your site, but cannot edit it.
- To view a draft, an Editor with a non-Google account must enter a verification code. You receive an email with this code when you’re invited to be an editor.
- Editors with a Google account can view and edit your site without a verification code.
- Click Done.
Follow a collaborator on Google Sites
You can follow a collaborator if you edit the site at the same time. When the collaborator moves to another part of the site, you also move there.
Follow a collaborator on Google Sites- On your computer, go to Google Sites.
- Open a site.
- At the top right, click the collaborator's profile picture to follow them to the same page or tile.
- If the collaborator moves to another page or tile after you follow them, you won’t move to the new page or tile.
You can't follow a collaborator who:
- Uses an unsupported device
- Is anonymous
- Doesn't have permission to edit the site
- Is on the same page as you are, but hasn’t selected a page element
Stop, limit, or change sharing
After you share a site, you can stop sharing a site at any time. You can also prevent someone you’ve shared with from changing or sharing your site.
Change who can edit your site
- On a computer, open a site in new Google Sites.
- At the top, click Share .
- Under Share with people and groups, find the name of the person whose access you want to change.
- Choose an option.
- Click Done.
Limit who can edit your site
Choose to restrict edits to only editors or allow anyone with a link to your site and a Google account to edit.
- On a computer, open a site in new Google Sites.
- At the top, click Share .
- Click the Links section.
- Adjust the settings for draft and published versions of your site:
- Draft: You can restrict access to people added under “Share with people and groups,” or allow anyone to edit with a link to your site and a Google account.
- Published site: You can restrict views to people added under “Share with people and groups,” or allow anyone to view it.
- Click Done.
Remove an editor
- On a computer, open a site in new Google Sites.
- At the top, click Share .
- Under Share with people and groups find the editor you want to remove.
- Next to the editor’s name, click Remove Save.
Change the site owner
The new owner can change what you can edit or remove you from the site.

On a computer, open a site in new Google Sites.
- At the top, click Share .
- Under Share with people and groups, find the name of the person you want to be the new owner.
- Next to the person’s name, click the Down arrow Make owner.
- Click Save changes Done.
Prevent others from sharing your site
If you’re sharing a site, the owner or anyone with edit permissions can change the sharing settings for the site. To make it so only you can share:
- On a computer, open a site in new Google Sites.
- At the top, click Share .
- At the top of the window, click Settings .
- Uncheck Editors can publish, change permissions, and add new people.

Invite others to edit your site
Add or remove an editor
Add an editor
- On a computer, open a site in classic Google Sites.
- At the top right, click Share.
- Under "Invite people," enter the name or email address of the person or Google Group you want to add.
- Click Send.
Remove an editor
- On a computer, open a site in classic Google Sites.
- At the top, click Share.
- Under "Who has access," find the editor you want to remove.
- Next to the editor’s name, click Delete Save changes.
Change who can edit your site
- On a computer, open a site in classic Google Sites.
- At the top, click Share.
- Under "Who has access," click Change choose an option.
- Next to "Access," click the Down arrow Can edit.
- Click Save.
Change owners and editors of your site
- On a computer, open a site in classic Google Sites.
- At the top, click Share.
- Under "Who has access," find the person whose role you want to change.
- Next to the person’s name, click the Down arrow .
- Choose an option:
- Is owner: Change site name, theme, and layout, edit site, invite others to edit or view.
- Can edit: Create and edit pages, add attachments and comments.
- Can view: View pages.
- Click Save changes.
Change who can see a page
- On a computer, open a site in classic Google Sites.
- At the top, click Share.
- At the top right, click Enable page-level permissions Turn on page-level permissions.
- On the left, choose a page and click Change.
- Choose who can see the page and click Save.
Tip: If you make your site public, individual pages may go public.
