To manage your tasks from the home screen without opening the Tasks app, you can add a widget.
Add the Tasks widget to your home screen
Important:
- You can add widgets on an iPhone or iPad running iOS 14 and up.
- To add the widget, download the Google Tasks app.
- If you recently installed the Tasks app, you may need to open the app before the widget appears in the list of widgets.
- On your iPhone or iPad, touch and hold the home screen.
- At the top left, tap Add .
- In the list of widgets, tap Tasks.
- To select the widget size, swipe right or left.
- Tap Add Widget.
- At the top right, tap Done.

Add the Tasks widget to Today View
- On your iPhone or iPad, swipe right on the home screen until you find a list of widgets.
- Scroll to the bottom and tap Edit.
- At the top left, tap Add .
- In the list of widgets, tap Tasks.
- To select the widget size, swipe right or left.
- Tap Add Widget.
- At the top right, tap Done.
Tip: To hide your tasks when the screen is locked, open Settings Face ID & Passcode or Touch ID & Passcode, then turn off Today View and Search.
Move the Tasks widget
- Touch and hold the widget.
- Tap Edit Home Screen.
- Drag the widget to another location on the home screen, then release it.
- At the top right, tap Done.
Remove the Tasks widget
- Touch and hold the widget.
- Tap Remove Widget Remove.
