You can create, edit and delete repeating tasks in Google Tasks and Google Calendar.
Important:
- A limited number of upcoming recurring tasks appear at one time on your Calendar grid. As time passes, new tasks appear automatically.
- Shared tasks and subtasks can't be set to repeat.
- Recurring tasks can't be moved to other task lists.
- If you stop a series of tasks from repeating, you can't set it to repeat again. You must create a new series of repeating tasks.
Set tasks to repeat
To set tasks to repeat from Google Tasks:
- Open the Google Tasks app .
- Tap an existing task or create a new task.
- Tap Add date/time Repeat .
- Under 'Repeats every', select day, week, month or year.
- Under 'Ends', select an option to create a recurring task:
- With no end date, select Never.
- With a specific end date, select On, then choose a date.
- This ends after a certain number of occurrences, select After, then select a number of occurrences.
- Tap OK Done.
To set tasks to repeat from Google Calendar:
- Open the Google Calendar app .
- Tap an existing task or create a new task.
- Tap Edit .
- Below the date, tap Does not repeat .
- Select an option:
- Select a pre-set frequency: Every day, Every week or Every year. Tap Save.
- Select Custom. Set your preferred recurrence frequency and end date. Tap Done Save.
Edit or complete a recurring task
To edit or complete a recurring task from Google Tasks:
- Open the Google Tasks app .
- Tap the task that you want to change.
- To edit the date and time or stop a task from repeating, at the bottom of the task, tap the repetition info.
- To mark the task complete, tap Mark completed. The task is crossed out. The next instance of your repeating tasks appears in your task list on the date specified.
Tip: If you want to change the date and time of the next repeating task in a series, tap the date.
To edit or complete a recurring task from Google Calendar:
- Open the Google Calendar app .
- Tap a task Edit .
- Select an option:
- To edit the date or time of the task, tap Date/Time Save.
- To edit how often a task occurs or stop a task from repeating, tap Repeat Save.
- To complete a task, tap Mark completed.
Delete tasks in a series
To delete recurring tasks from Google Tasks:
- Open the Google Tasks app .
- Tap the task that you want to delete.
- At the top right, tap Delete Delete all.
To delete recurring tasks from Google Calendar:
- Open the Google Calendar app .
- Tap the task that you want to delete More Delete.
- Select an option:
- This task
- This and following tasks
- All tasks
- Tap Delete.
Important: To delete a single task from a repeating series, you must use Google Calendar.
