Organize your tasks

You can change the order of your tasks, or move them to a different list.

On your Android phone, download the Google Tasks app.

Reorder your tasks

Important: To reorder your tasks, change your sort options to "My order." In the bottom navigation menu of a list, tap Sort by and then My order.
  1. Open the Google Tasks app Tasks.
  2. Touch and hold a task.
  3. Move the task where you want.
Tip: You can also reorder your tasks based on recent stars. In the bottom navigation menu of a list, tap Sort by and then Starred recently.

Sort tasks by due date

  1. Open the Google Tasks app Tasks.
  2. In the bottom navigation menu of a list, tap Sort by and then Date.

Move a task to a different list

  1. Open the Google Tasks app Tasks.
  2. Tap the task you want to move.
  3. At the top, tap the list name.
  4. Choose a list you want to move the task to.
  5. To close the task, tap Back Back.

Tips:

  • You can’t move tasks set to repeat to a different list.
  • Next to a task, to select a list name, click Task options .

Reorder your task lists

  1. Open the Google Tasks app Tasks.
  2. Swipe to the tab of the list you want to move.
  3. Tap and hold the tab.
  4. Move the list to where you want it.

Check pending tasks on a list

  1. Open the Google Tasks app Tasks.
  2. Tap the list you want to check for pending tasks.
  3. Sort the list by due date. Uncompleted tasks appear at the top, under “Past.”

Tips:

  • Tasks with dates also appear in Google Calendar.
  • A list of all uncompleted tasks from the last 365 days is available in your current day on Google Calendar.

Find or hide completed tasks 

  1. Open the Google Tasks app Tasks.
  2. Select an option:
    • To find completed tasks, next to "Completed," tap the Down arrow .
    • To hide completed tasks, tap the Up arrow Up arrow.
