If you lose your key or decide you don’t want to use it anymore, you can remove it from your account. After a key is removed from your account, you can’t use it to sign in unless you register it again.
Note: If you’re enrolled in the Advanced Protection Program, you’ll need to turn it off in your Google Account before you can remove all keys.
- Go to the 2-Step Verification section of your Google Account. You may need to sign in.
- Next to the key you want to remove, select edit .
- Select Remove This Key OK.
If you remove a key from your account, it can be used again by adding it back to your account or to another account.
