Delete your Google Voice number

If you choose to discontinue Google Voice, you can delete your number. You can also port your number out of Google Voice or transfer your number to a different Google Voice account. Learn how to port or transfer your personal number.
Important: This feature operates differently based on the type of account you have. Learn more about Google Voice account types.

Delete your Google Voice number

Important: After you delete your Google Voice number, you can only reclaim it within 90 days.
  1. On your computer, open Google Voice.
  2. Sign in with the Google Account you used to register your number.
  3. At the top right, click Settings .
  4. On the left, click Account.
  5. Under “Google Voice number,” find the number you want to delete.
  6. Click Delete and then Delete number.

Reclaim your Google Voice number

  1. On your computer, open Google Voice.
  2. Sign in with the Google Account you used to delete your number.
  3. At the top right, click Settings .
  4. On the left, click Account.
  5. When you get the message “You don’t have a Google Voice number,” click Get a number. 
  6. Find the number you want to reclaim.
  7. Click Reclaim.
  8. To verify your number, follow the on-screen instructions.
