International calling rates
- Inside the US: If you have a US phone number and call an international phone number, you’re charged international rates.
- Outside the US: International calls use minutes from your mobile phone plan. If you make a call from outside the US, your mobile phone company might charge you extra roaming fees.
Confirm your international call uses Google Voice
On your mobile phone
When you start an international call, you get a message from Google Voice. The message says how much the call costs or that the call is routed through Google Voice.
Important: If you don’t get the message, the call isn’t routed through Google Voice and your mobile carrier may charge you for the international call.
Fix problems with international calls
Important: Chinese telecom carriers may block outbound calls to China.
You might have trouble with an international call because another app conflicts with Google Voice or because of a problem with your phone.
If your international call isn’t routed through Google Voice:
- Check that Google Voice is open on your computer or mobile device.
- Restart Google Voice.
- Check that you have enough calling credit.
