In Google Wallet, you can save and use your hotel keys at hotels where this feature is supported.
In Google Wallet, you can safely and securely use your hotel keys to access your Hotels, guestrooms and key card-protected common areas like gyms, pools, and elevators throughout the duration of your stay.
Add a hotel key
- Open the hotel’s website, app, or email.
- If needed, sign in to the hotel's website.
- Tap Add to Google Wallet.
Tip: You can typically find this button on the reservation confirmation page from the hotel’s website, app, or email. If not found, the hotel may not support this feature. For more details, contact the hotel.
- Sign in to your Google Account that is associated with your Google Wallet.
- Tap Add View in Wallet.
You can now view your hotel key and reservation details provided by the hotel in Google Wallet.
Use a hotel key
Important: You must check in and be assigned to a room to activate your hotel key. To check in, use the hotel’s app, kiosk, or reception desk.
- Wake and unlock your phone.
Tip: Some hotels allow you to use your hotel key without unlocking your phone. Learn how to manage your device unlock settings.
- Hold the back of your phone near the door handle.

Manage device unlock for hotel keys- Open the Google Wallet app .
- Tap the hotel key that you want to use.
- At the top right, tap More .
- Turn on or off Require device unlock to use.
With the device unlock setting off, you don't need to unlock your phone. To use your hotel key:
- Wake phone.
- Hold the back of your phone near the door handle.
Remove a hotel key
Important: When you check out, your hotel key will no longer be active.
- Open the Google Wallet app .
- Tap the hotel key that you want to remove.
- At the top right, tap More .
- Scroll to the bottom.
- Tap Remove key Remove.
Fix issues with hotel keys
I can’t use my hotel key or fix issues with using a hotel keyIf you're having trouble with your digital hotel key, check the following:
- Make sure your Bluetooth is on or your phone is NFC enabled.
Tip: To turn on NFC, check your phone settings.
- Hold your phone closer to the card reader for a few seconds, avoid moving it away too quickly.
- Try to hold your phone in a different way. Your NFC antenna could be near the top or bottom of your device.
- Confirm your room number and reservation details.
- Make sure you're checked in and the key is activated.
