Suggest an edit on the Waze Map Editor

The Waze map stays up to date with the help of our amazing community of map editors. Not part of the community and want to contribute to the map? Join the Waze Map Editor Community.

Different objects in the Waze Map Editor can only be updated by editors of a certain level, to make sure the map is as accurate as possible. Learn more about map editing levels.

If you want to make a change to an object, but haven’t reached the required level, you can still suggest an edit and contribute to the map.

Note: Make sure to save your edits and suggestions separately. If you want to make a suggestion, but also have unsaved map edits, save the edits first.

Got questions?

What can I edit on the map?

You can add edit suggestions for:

  • Addresses: Street, city, state, country, and alternate street names
  • Attributes: Speed limit and directions
  • Road geometry

Note: At this time, you can't add suggestions to create or delete a segment.

When will my suggestion be reviewed or approved?

Most requests will be handled within a few days. Please keep in mind that our Editors Community members are volunteers, and in some cases changes may take more time to be implemented.

How do I know I’m suggesting and not editing?

Here are a few cues to let you know you're in suggestion mode:
  • When you enter your updates, you'll see a banner in the side panel that says "Any changes will be approved before being published"
  •  If you know your Map Editor Level (Learn more about your map editor level), you can check what level you need to be to edit the area. It'll appear under "Lock" in the side panel.
  • Once you're ready to send over the changes, the button will say Send for review, instead of Save

How many edits  can I suggest?

You can submit up to 10 suggestions per day. Each suggestion can include up to 10 updates per street or segment.

How can I track the request status?

To check the request status, go to the Waze Map Editor:

  1. Go to the Waze Map Editor
  2. Click View map layer
  3. Turn on "Issues"
  4. Click Solve
  5. Click MS

Tip: Click to add filters and help you find the right suggestion.
