Welcome to Waze! Follow these steps to get started.
Don’t have the Waze app? Get it on Android or iOS. If you used Waze before, you likely have a guest account. Learn how to register this account.
Using Waze in your car? Create an account on your phone. You can then access this account when you use Waze in your car. If you're using Android Auto or CarPlay, make sure that you disconnect your phone first.
- Open the Waze app on your phone or tablet
- Tap Get started
- Read the licence agreement and Terms of Use, and then continue
- Read the privacy policy and continue
- Sign up with your Google Account or an email address to start using Waze. Your email or Google account will be used in case you need to recover your Waze account.
Note: If you’re logged in with different Google Accounts into multiple Google products at the same time, some Google systems may use a different account than the one used in Waze.
Got questions?
Why didn't I get a verification email?
If you didn’t get a verification email, try the following:
- Make sure that there aren’t any typos in your email address
- Make sure that you’ve entered your full email address – for example, '[email protected]' instead of 'username@gmail'
- Make sure that you’re in the inbox of the correct email address
- Check your email’s spam folder for the verification code
- Search for '[email protected]' in your inbox
Note: If your email inbox is on another device than the one you're using to log in, do the following:
- Open your inbox from a web browser
- Open the verification email and tap Verify email. A new tab will open with a verification code.
- In Waze, enter the code

Note: Continuing as a guest is a great option if you’re having trouble logging in, but need to use Waze now. However, to create your own personalisable account that you can recover if anything happens, you must verify your email. When you have time later, register your guest account by verifying your email.
Why doesn't the email have a verification code?
When you open the email on your phone, you should be taken to the Waze app automatically, with no need to enter a code. If you're using email on your computer, the code should appear in the body of the email.
Let's try again:
- Open Waze on your mobile device
- Tap Log in
- Enter your email address
- Tap Next
