Silence or unblock notifications on your watch

You can get notifications for texts, missed calls, events, and reminders. Your watch will match your phone’s settings for whether it vibrates or stays silent for notifications.

Phones with Android 6.0 & up

Silence all notifications

If you don’t want to get any notifications on your watch, turn on "Do not disturb" on your phone.

If you only want to get alarms on your watch:

  1. If you can’t see your screen, wake up the watch.
  2. From the top of the screen, swipe down.
  3. Tap Do not disturb Do not disturb.

Tip: Depending on your phone, you might still get important notifications. Check your phone’s "Do not disturb" settings for details.

Phones with Android 5.0 & up

Mute your notifications

If you don’t want your watch to vibrate for new notifications, you can mute it.

  1. If you can’t see your screen, wake up the watch.
  2. From the top of your screen, swipe down.
  3. Tap Mute notifications Notifications. When your watch is muted, you’ll see Notifications off Notifications off.

Tip: If you muted your phone but not your watch, your watch will still vibrate. It uses the same settings as your individual apps, not your phone.

Block notifications from certain apps

To stop notifications from certain apps, block them with your watch or through the Wear OS app.

Block & unblock app notifications with your phone

  1. On your Android phone, open the Wear OS app or the companion app for your device.
    • If you use the companion app for your device, follow the companion app instructions.
  2. Under "Settings," tap Notifications and then Change watch notifications.
    • On some watches, you can find "Filter watch notifications".
  3. Tap an app to block or unblock it.

Turn off all notifications temporarily (Theater mode)

On some watches, you can turn off your watch’s screen temporarily, so it doesn’t light up or show notifications, even if you move or tap the watch.

To turn on Theater mode:

  • If your watch has a Power button: Press it twice quickly.
  • If your watch doesn’t have a Power button:
    1. If you can’t see your screen, wake up the watch.
    2. From the top of the screen, swipe down.
    3. Swipe from right to left until you see Theater modeTheater mode.
    4. Tap to turn it on.

To turn off Theater mode:

  • If your watch has a Power button: Press the Power button twice quickly.
  • If your watch doesn't have a Power button: Tap the screen twice quickly.

Turn off phone sounds when using your watch

If you want to stop sounds and vibrations from your phone when your watch is connected:

  1. On your Android phone, open the Wear OS app or the companion app for your device.
    • If you use the companion app for your device, follow the companion app instructions.
  2. Under “Settings,” tap Notifications.
  3. Tap Silence phone while wearing watch.
