Remove images of minors from Google search results

Google removes images of anyone below the age of 18 from search results at the request of the individual under 18 or their parent or guardian, with the exception of cases of compelling public interest or newsworthiness. This means these images won’t appear in the Images tab or as thumbnails in any feature in Google Search. This article is intended to support you through the process for removal requests of such content from Google search results.

Important:

  • While we can prevent an image from appearing on Google search results, we can’t remove it from the website that hosts it. To remove the content from the host website, you will need to contact the website owner.
  • We keep public interest and newsworthiness in mind when determining whether to stop showing the content in search results.

Requirements

To consider your request for removal, it must meet the following requirements:

  • The URLs submitted are image URLs. Web URLs (pages with both text and images) are not eligible for removal under this policy.
  • The image includes an individual who is under 18, or who has passed away before the age of 18.
  • You are the individual in the image or an authorized representative, such as a parent or guardian.
  • The image is not from a social media account or a web page that you manage.
