About Google nowcasting

You can find short-term weather forecasts in your desired location for rain, hail, or snow up to 12 hours in advance with Google nowcasting data. When you search for weather data on a mobile device, the weather interactive box shows the nowcast.

The start and end times that show are in the local time zone of the location you search for.

It’s constantly updated from multiple sources

Google nowcasting data is refreshed multiple times per hour. Our forecasting is based on Multi-Radar/Multi-Sensor System (MRMS) and High-Resolution Rapid Refresh (HRRR) data published by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), among other sources. To provide the latest, accurate information, Google updates weather forecasts with information they combine from multiple sources.

Weather forecasting isn’t always accurate, but our predictions capture as much information as possible to provide the highest level of accuracy.

Should I expect additional precipitation during the day?

Google nowcasting shows the next continuous precipitation event. Any later precipitation will be shown in the hourly precipitation forecast with data provided by weather.com.

Why can't I find Google's nowcast?

If there’s no forecast for rain, hail, or snow, or if the forecast is too uncertain, Google nowcasting data won’t show up. In such cases, all displayed weather information is provided by weather.com.

Google nowcasting is available in the US and may not be available on all weather services.

Users’ reports on current weather conditions

When you search for weather info on Google, you might be asked to provide feedback on the current weather in your location. Your feedback helps us monitor the quality of weather results and update the data.

You can view and delete your feedback in My Activity. When you delete your feedback from your Google Account, the feedback is no longer associated with your Google Account. But it may still be used to help improve weather results.
