“AI Overviews and more” in Search Labs

Note: This Help Center article applies to users who have opted-in to the "AI Overviews and more” experiment in Search Labs . If you don't find the Search Labs icon  next to AI Overviews you don't have this experiment turned on, you can refer to AI Overviews in Search.

“AI Overviews and more” is an experiment in Search Labs that lets you see AI Overviews on more Google searches and offers access to additional generative AI features in Search. “AI Overviews and more” has replaced the Search Labs experiment known as SGE (Search Generative Experience). Learn more about where the “AI Overviews and more” experiment is available.

Tips:

  • You'll find the Search Labs icon next to AI Overviews when you’ve opted into the “AI Overviews and more” experiment in Search Labs.
  • If you don't find the Search Labs icon next to AI Overviews you don't have this experiment turned on, you can refer to AI Overviews in Search.

What you need

  • Chrome browser Chrome. Download Chrome.
  • Be 13 or over. If you’re under 18, Search Labs and select experiments are available in the US and in English only.
  • A personal Google Account that you manage on your own. For now, Search Labs and its experiments are not available to Google Workspace accounts, including Google Workspace for Education accounts.

Get "AI Overviews and more" in search results

  1. On your computer, open Chrome Chrome.
  2. Make sure you’re signed in to your Google Account with Incognito mode turned off.
  3. Do a search on Google. If an AI Overview or another experimental generative AI feature is available, it will show in search results.
    • For some searches: You may have the option to generate an AI Overview.
    • For other searches: AI Overviews won’t be available.

Turn on or off “AI Overviews and more” in Search Labs

  1. On your computer, open Chrome Chrome.
  2. Make sure you’re signed in to your Google Account with Incognito mode turned off.
  3. At the top of the browser, click New tab New tab.
  4. At the top of the page, click Labs and then Manage .
  5. Toggle off Toggle off ​​​​​ or on Turn on  “AI Overviews and more.”

Note: Turning off “AI Overviews and more” in Search Labs will not disable all AI Overviews in Search. AI Overviews are part of Google Search like other features, such as knowledge panels, and can’t be turned off.

Export from "AI Overviews and more" to Google Workspace

Important: If you export from "AI Overviews and more", Google Search saves the AI-powered information and your search query to your Google Drive or Gmail. When you export, it does not grant Google Search any additional access to your Google Drive or Gmail.

Export to Google Docs

Important: Images are currently unavailable for export to Google Docs.

  1. Below the AI Overview, click Export and then Google Docs.
  2. This saves a new document in your Google Drive with your search term as the title.
Export to Gmail

Important: Images are currently unavailable for export to Gmail.

  1. Below the AI Overview, click Export and then Draft in Gmail.
  2. This creates a draft email in Gmail with your search term as the email subject.
Export AI-generated images to Google Drive
  1. Below the AI-generated image, click Export and then Google Drive.
  2. This creates an image file with a descriptive name in your Google Drive.

Give feedback

Give feedback about a specific AI Overview
Your feedback helps us improve AI Overviews. Here's how to share it:
  1. Rate the overview:
    • At the bottom of each overview, you'll see thumbs up Good overview and thumbs down Bad overview icons.
    • Click Good overview if you found the overview helpful. To tell us more, click Share more feedback.
    • Click Bad overview if you found the overview unhelpful, inaccurate, biased, or otherwise problematic. To tell us more, click Report a problem and choose the category that best describes your issue.
  2. Share more details:
    • To help us understand your feedback, you can add more details in the text field (recommended).
  3. Submit:
    • Click Submit to send your feedback.
Tip: You can also provide feedback by selecting the three-dot menu icon More at the top right of each overview.
Give feedback about the experiment
  1. On your computer, open Chrome Chrome.
  2. Make sure you’re signed in to your Google Account with Incognito mode turned off.
  3. At the top of the browser, click New tab New tab.
  4. At the top right of the page, click Labs .
  5. At the bottom of the "AI Overviews and more" card, click Feedback.
