Understanding different management sets

Android's enterprise capabilities give you the flexibility to support a range of enterprise scenarios. These capabilities are organized into the following management sets:

Management set Suitability Key features*
Full device management Corporate-owned, business-only devices
  • Set minimum password requirements for unlocking devices
  • Remotely lock and wipe devices
  • Automatically lock out-of-compliance devices
  • Remote app distribution and management
  • Set responses to runtime permissions
Dedicated device management Corporate owned, single-use devices
  • All the features listed in full device management, and
  • Lock device to an app (or apps); prevent users from accessing the home screen, settings, etc.
  • Schedule over-the-air (OTA) system updates
Work profiles BYOD and company-owned devices enabled for personal use
  • Separate space for work apps and data
  • Remotely lock and wipe work profiles
  • Remote app distribution and management
  • Set responses to runtime permissions for apps in a work profile
  • Device remains available for personal use
