Protect your Content Manager account

These features are only available to partners who use YouTube Studio Content Manager.
Note: To access Studio Content Manager, you need to turn on 2-Step Verification on the Google Account you use to sign in to Studio Content Manager.

Securing your YouTube account helps prevent your YouTube account and channel from being hacked, hijacked, or compromised.

Users of YouTube Studio Content Manager may want to take these additional steps to protect their Content Manager account against unauthorized access:

Use individual email addresses to sign in

To prevent account lockout, make sure every user signs in to YouTube Studio Content Manager with their own email address.

Review permissions and remove unknown users

Regularly review your Content Manager’s user list and confirm users have the appropriate permissions level.

If you don't recognize users, it’s possible your account may have been hacked. Learn more about how to remove users or change their role.

  Check notification emails

Before opening email notifications about Content Manager activity such as new claims, reports, or ownership conflicts, make sure they’re sent from the youtube.com domain.

Learn about the Advanced Protection Program

Upgrade to the Advanced Protection Program if possible. This program safeguards users by using physical security keys as the 2-Step Verification method.

Turn on Safe Browsing Enhanced protection in Google Chrome

If you use Google Chrome, turning on Safe Browsing Enhanced protection will send you alerts about unwanted software, risky extensions, phishing, or potentially unsafe websites.

  Make your account more secure

Avoid installing unknown apps or apps from unknown sources. Remove any apps you don’t need from your connected devices.
