Create a campaign

These features are only available to partners who use YouTube Studio Content Manager.

In Studio Content Manager, campaigns offer a way to promote your content directly from user-uploaded videos that match your content. Specifically, when an asset is part of a campaign, a promotional card is added to user-uploaded videos that match your asset’s reference file. This card links viewers directly to your content.

You can use campaigns to promote a specific video for a set of assets, such as to link to your movie's watch page when a user-uploaded video contains scenes from your movie.

Matches are determined by Content ID or manual claiming. For Content ID claims, cards show when the matched segment starts. For manual claims, cards show when the video ends. Keep in mind that cards don't show if the matched video isn't playable on YouTube. Cards also don't show if the video is a brief match.

Set up a campaign

To set up a campaign, you first need to decide how you want the assets in your campaign to be identified, either by asset or by asset label:

  • Asset-based campaigns are based on individually-selected assets.
  • Label-based campaigns are based on assets with a specific asset label applied to them.

Tip: We recommend creating label-based campaigns when possible because of these benefits:

  • Unlimited assets: Label-based campaigns can apply to an unlimited number of assets, whereas asset-based campaigns can apply to a maximum of 25 assets.
  • More specialized: With label-based campaigns, you can more easily create campaigns based on specific themes.
  • Automatic updates: When an asset label is part of a campaign, any new assets with that label applied will be automatically included in the campaign.

To create a campaign in Studio Content Manager:

  1. Sign in to Studio Content Manager.
  2. From the left menu, select Campaigns .
  3. Click NEW CAMPAIGN and then select the method for identifying the assets in your campaign:
