Multi-channel networks (MCNs) can manage video monetization settings for channels in their network. All channels that are part of a MCN must also have their channel reviewed and follow YouTube monetization policies.
Enable monetization at the channel level
To turn on monetization for videos on a specific channel in your network, follow these steps:
- Sign into your YouTube content owner account.
- In the top right, select the account icon > Content Manager.
- In the left menu, select Video Manager > Videos.
- Filter by channel by selecting the drop-down arrow next to Channel filter at the top of the screen and choosing the channel.
- Select the videos you want to turn on monetization for.
- At the top of the screen, click Actions > Monetize.
Turning monetization on for the channel enables it for any new videos that channel uploads.
Enable channels to manage monetization settings
You can give non-affiliate channels* in your network the ability to manage their videos' monetization settings using the “Monetize uploads” feature.
- Sign into your YouTube content owner account.
- In the top right, select the account icon > Creator Studio.
- In the left menu, select Channels > Overview.
- Select the channel.
- Click the Permissions drop-down menu.
- Under "Monetize uploads," select Enable.
*MCNs can not disable an affiliate creator’s permission to enable monetization on their videos, as affiliate channels are authorized to monetize eligible videos under the YouTube Partner Program terms.
After the MCN enables the "Monetize uploads" feature for a channel in their network, the creator can monetize their content on their own using the instructions to set up monetization.
