YouTube has upgraded from YouTube Data API service v2 to YouTube Data API service v3. This API is a newer technology to help turn on third-party apps and integrate them with YouTube. Third-party app developers were informed about this change in 2014 to give them enough time to adopt our new technology. We’ve helped them migrate to newer technology supported by us since then.
Most third-party apps already use YouTube Data API service v3, so nothing will change in how you use these upgraded third-party apps to upload to YouTube.
Third-party apps that haven't been updated to the newer YouTube Data API service v3 technology may cause issues when uploading videos to YouTube. You can’t upload to YouTube through these apps.
Note: You might be asked to re-authenticate when granting permissions to third-party apps.
Troubleshoot upload issues
If you get the message “username/password combination failed," when you try to sign in to a third-party app, use these steps to upload your video:
- Export video from the third-party app.
- Upload the video using the YouTube website or the YouTube mobile app.
