You can help to prevent accidental purchases from YouTube on your device by turning on purchase verification. Purchase verification means that certain info, like your Google Account password, must be entered on your device to make a purchase on YouTube. This setting is turned on by default, and applies on every device associated with your Google Account.
Note: If needed, you can always change or reset your Google Account password.
Turn on purchase verification
You don't need to manually turn on purchase verification – it's turned on by default at the account level. Any device associated with your Google Account will be impacted when you turn on or turn off verification settings.
Turn off purchase verification
Select the option to remember your account when making a purchase on YouTube. This will turn off purchase verification across all devices associated with your Google Account.
Note: Turning off purchase verification may result in unauthorised purchases. By turning off purchase verification, you assume responsibility for all charges.
Re-enable purchase verification
You can restore purchase verification at any time from your YouTube account settings.
- Open the YouTube app or go to youtube.com.
- Tap your profile picture Settings .
- Under 'Account settings', select Billing and payments.
- Tap Enable purchase verification.
- Follow the on-screen instructions.
