Choose how you want to monetise

We're expanding the YouTube Partner Programme (YPP) to more creators with earlier access to fan funding and Shopping features. The expanded YouTube Partner Programme is available to eligible creators in these countries/regions. The expansion is rolling out over the next month to eligible creators in AE, AU, BR, EG, ID, KE, KY, LT, LU, LV, MK, MP, MT, MY, NG, NL, NO, NZ, PF, PG, PH, PT, QA, RO, RS, SE, SG, SI, SK, SN, TC, TH, TR, UG, VI, VN and ZA. If you're not in one of the countries/regions above, there are no changes to the YouTube Partner Programme for you. You can view this article for an overview of YPP as well as eligibility and application instructions relevant to you.

Check your eligibility for the expanded YouTube Partner Programme. If you're not eligible yet, select Be notified in the Earn area of YouTube Studio. We'll send you an email once we've rolled out the expanded YPP programme to you and you've reached the eligibility thresholds.

Intro to making money on YouTube

Subscribe to the YouTube Creators channel for the latest news, updates and tips.
Make sure that you've completed all the steps to turn on monetisation for your YouTube channel to access the ways that you can earn.

Access ways to earn

Once in YPP, partners can pick and choose from contract modules that they're eligible for to unlock earning opportunities. This approach also gives creators increased transparency and focus to decide which monetisation opportunities are right for their channel.

  1. Sign in to YouTube Studio
  2. In the left menu, select Earn.
  3. Click Get started for each optional module to review and accept the terms.

Watch page ads

Starting mid-January 2023, existing YouTube partners in YPP must review and accept the Watch Page Monetisation Module to continue earning ad revenue from the watch page.

You can earn from ads that show up before, during, after and around your videos on the watch page. You can also earn revenue when a YouTube Premium subscriber watches your content on the watch page.

The watch page represents pages within YouTube, YouTube Music and YouTube Kids dedicated to the description and playback of your long-form or live streaming videos. To earn ad and YouTube Premium revenue on long-form or live streaming videos viewed on the watch page, or when embedded on other sites in the YouTube Video Player, you must accept the Watch Page Monetisation Module.

Shorts Feed ads

Accepting the Shorts Monetisation Module allows your channel to share revenue from ads viewed between videos in the Shorts Feed. Shorts ad revenue sharing will begin accruing on the date that you accept this module. For more details on how ad revenue sharing works for Shorts, view our YouTube Shorts monetisation policies.

Commerce Product Module

The Commerce Product Module (and formerly available Commerce Product Addendum) lets you earn revenue from fan funding features while connecting with your fans. Fan funding features range from channel memberships to Super Chat, Super Stickers and Super Thanks. To earn revenue from fan funding features, you must accept the Commerce Product Module (CPM) and turn on the individual features. Creators that signed the Commerce Product Addendum (CPA) don't have to sign the new Commerce Product Module. For more info on fan funding features and the policies that apply, view our YouTube Commerce Products monetisation policies.

Turn on watch page ads

If your video meets our advertiser-friendly content guidelines, you can turn on ads. If you're not sure that your video is eligible, check out the self-certification guidance and examples on that page. Choosing to turn on ads doesn't mean that ads will automatically open on a video. Before any ads appear, the video will go through a standard process including automated or human reviews to verify that it meets our guidelines.

By turning on ads for videos on YouTube, you confirm that you have all of the necessary rights to the visual and audio elements of those videos.

You can also turn video ads on or off in the YouTube Studio app on your mobile device.
