To set up a teen supervised experience, parents and teens can link their accounts in Family Centre. Supervision can be removed at any point by a parent or a teen.
Note: These features are designed for teens, but can be set up for other family members if needed. It's up to each family to decide if and how they want to use supervision on YouTube.
Set up supervision
Steps for parents
- Sign in to YouTube on your computer.
- Click your profile picture .
- Click Settings .
- Scroll down to Family Centre and click Manage children's profiles and features for teens.
- Click Invite a teen.
- Click Create invitation.
- Have your teen scan the QR code on their device, or you can share a link with them instead.

- Click Invite a parent.
- Click Create invitation.
- Have your parent scan the QR code on their device, or you can share a link with them instead.
Turn off supervision
Steps for parents
- Sign in to YouTube on your computer.
- Click your profile picture .
- Click Settings .
- Scroll down to Family Centre and click Manage children's profiles and features for teens.
- Select the account that you want to turn off supervision for.
- Click Turn off supervision features.
Steps for teens
- Sign in to YouTube on your computer.
- Click your profile picture .
- Click Settings .
- Scroll down to Family Centre and click Manage children's profiles and features for teens.
- Select your parent's account.
- Click Turn off supervision features.
Note: When a teenager becomes an adult, supervision won't turn off automatically.
