Overview of YouTube Kids settings for your kid’s Google Account

When you set up a supervised account for your child, you can also give them the ability to use YouTube Kids. You can manage your child’s YouTube Kids settings from:

Audio

You or your child can turn on or off App music and Sound effects in YouTube Kids Settings.

App music

  1. Go to Settings .
  2. Tap App music to turn app music on or off.

Sound effects

  1. Go to Settings .
  2. Tap Sound effects to turn sound effects on or off.

Video controls

You can turn Casting on or off and change the appearance of text and Captions with content controls.

Cast YouTube Kids

  1. Go to Settings .
  2. Tap Casting to turn casting on or off.

Change the size of Subtitles and Closed captions

  1. Go to Settings .
  2. Tap Subtitles and closed captions.
  3. Tap Caption size and style.
  4. Tap Text size.
  5. Select the text size that you want.

Change the colors of Subtitles and Closed captions

  1. Go to Settings .
  2. Tap Subtitles and closed captions.
  3. Tap Caption size and style.
  4. Tap Caption style.
  5. Select the subtitles that you want.
Note: You and your kid can also adjust video quality settings when watching a video. Learn more about how to change video quality settings.

Autoplay

When Autoplay is turned on, we’ll automatically play another related video based on your child’s viewing history. By default this setting is turned off.
To turn on Autoplay from your computer or TV:
  1. Go to the watch page of any video in YouTube Kids.
  2. At the bottom of the player, select Autoplay OFF . will change to to show that autoplay is now turned on.
To turn on Autoplay from a mobile device:
  1. Go to the watch page of any video in YouTube Kids.
  2. Tap Menu .
  3. Tap Autoplay OFF . will change to to show that autoplay is now turned on.
Notes:
  • Autoplay will remain on until you or your child turns it off. To turn it off, tap the same Autoplay ON button . will change to to show that autoplay is now turned off.
  • If you'd like to turn off Autoplay for your child, you can select Disable autoplay in Family Center. Your child can't turn on Autoplay when this setting is on.

Privacy

The Privacy Notice for Google Accounts created in Family Link describes our privacy practices when your kid uses YouTube Kids with their Google Account. When your kid uses YouTube Kids without signing in with their Google Account, the YouTube Kids Privacy Notice applies.
When your kid uses YouTube Kids with their Google Account, you can use the Family Link app to manage your kid's activity settings. These settings include their YouTube Search History and YouTube Watch History.
