Audio
You or your child can turn on or off App music and Sound effects in YouTube Kids settings.
App music
- Go to Settings .
- Tap App music to turn app music on or off.
Sound effects
- Go to Settings .
- Tap Sound effects to turn sound effects on or off.
Video controls
You can turn Casting on or off and change the appearance of text and captions with content controls.
Cast YouTube Kids
- Go to Settings .
- Tap Casting to turn casting on or off.
Change the size of subtitles and closed captions
- Go to Settings .
- Tap Subtitles and closed captions.
- Tap Caption size and style.
- Tap Text size.
- Select the text size that you want.
Change the colours of Subtitles and Closed Captions
- Go to Settings .
- Tap Subtitles and closed captions.
- Tap Caption size and style.
- Tap Caption style.
- Select the subtitles that you want.
Note: You and your child can also adjust video quality settings when watching a video. Learn more about how to change video quality settings.
Auto-play
When Auto-play is turned on, we'll automatically play another related video based on your child's viewing history. This setting is turned off by default.
To turn on Auto-play from your computer or TV:
- Go to the watch page of any video in YouTube Kids.
- At the bottom of the player, select Auto-play OFF . will change to to show that auto-play is now turned on.
To turn on auto-play from a mobile device:
- Go to the watch page of any video in YouTube Kids.
- Tap Menu .
- Tap Auto-play OFF . will change to to show that auto-play is now turned on.
Notes:
- Auto-play will remain on until you or your child turns it off. To turn it off, tap the same Auto-play ON button . will change to to show that auto-play is now turned off.
- If you'd like to turn off auto-play for your child, you can select Disable auto-play in Family Centre. Your child can't turn on auto-play when this setting is on.
Privacy
The Privacy Notice for Google Accounts created in Family Link describes our privacy practices when your child uses YouTube Kids with their Google Account. When your child uses YouTube Kids without signing in with their Google Account, the YouTube Kids Privacy Notice applies.
When your child uses YouTube Kids with their Google Account, you can use the Family Link app to manage your child's activity settings. These settings include their YouTube Search History and YouTube Watch History.
