Fix credit and debit card issues
There are some common errors messages that you may see for credit and debit cards, which include:
- 'Card Declined'
- 'Correct this card info or try a different card'
- 'Card Expired'
- 'Please verify your card info and try again'
If you are seeing one of these error messages or something similar, try the following:
Confirm that your payment method is compatible with your purchase
- Pre-paid plans: American Express, RuPay cards and UPI are currently not supported for the purchase of pre-paid plans. Instead, try the following options:
- Try a different card, such as a Visa or Mastercard issued by a bank in India, to complete your purchase.
- You can also buy and redeem your Google Play balance to pay for your membership. Add to your Google Play balance and select the 'Google Play balance' option as your payment method. You can also read more about adding to your Google Play balance.
- Purchase a monthly paid membership subscription instead, using a card that supports international transactions.
- Monthly (ongoing) membership: If you want to purchase an ongoing membership to YouTube Music or Music Premium, try the following options:
- Use a different card such as a credit card from Visa or Mastercard enabled for international transactions or an American Express credit card.
- You can also buy and redeem your Google Play balance to pay for your ongoing membership. Add to your Google Play balance and select the 'Google Play balance' option as your payment method. You can also read more about adding to your Google Play balance.
- Use a local credit card or debit card to purchase a one-month or three-month pre-paid plan instead.
Make sure that your card information is up to date
Submit any requested information
Check that you have enough funds for the purchase
Contact your bank or card issuer
Try to pay with a different payment method
- If the first payment method that you tried to use didn't work, you can try another method. Go back to the purchase screen and select, or add, another payment method.
- If you see a greyed-out payment method while making a purchase in YouTube Music, that payment method isn't valid for that particular purchase. Use a different payment method to complete your purchase.
First, add to your Google Play balance and then select the 'Google Play Balance' option as your payment method. You can also read more about adding to your Google Play balance.
