Google Chat scans messages with external users to help protect you from spam, phishing, and malware. Internal conversations within your organization are not scanned. You can disable the external scans if you turn off external chat.
In addition, when any users send or receive files in Chat, the files are automatically scanned for viruses. If you allow external chat, images uploaded in external conversations may also be scanned for Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM).
