Export GCCHN logs

Important: Google has announced that it will shut down GCCHN and discontinue product support and maintenance on November 20, 2024. After this date, the product might not work as expected, and support services will not be available to assist you.

You might need to refer to event logs when troubleshooting an issue with Google Calendar Connector for HCL Notes (GCCHN). The system creates the log database during setup.

What’s logged?

The system logs:

  • Product authorization
  • Resource-level synchronization events
  • Conflict reports

If you turn on detailed event logging, the system also logs:

  • Calendar users in the Domino directory and sync events against the Domino directory
  • Calendar information added to HCL Notes

Events more than 7 days old are deleted from the event log daily.

Before you begin

  1. Make sure you meet all the system requirements and set up your servers correctly.

For details, go to Before you begin with GCCHN.

  2. Complete the steps in Install & set up GCCHN.

Step 1: Turn on detailed event logging

You can turn on detailed event logging to see event-level synchronization items, including inserts, updates, and cancellations. You can also view calendar conflicts for each resource.

To turn on detailed event logging:

  1. Open GCCHN and click System Setup.
  2. Click the Advanced tab and, for Detailed event logging, select Enabled.

Step 2: Allow one sync cycle to complete

A synchronization runs approximately every hour. You can check the event log to verify the cycle is complete.

Step 3: Export log database as structured text

Occasionally, you might need to provide copies of the GCCHN log database to Google Workspace support for analysis:

  1. To open the log databases, choose an option:
    • In the admin database, click Open Log and select the GCCHN log database.
    • In the HCL Domino Administrator, open the Google Calendar Connector Log under the GCCHN installation folder.
  2. Select the documents in the log to be examined.

If you're not sure, select the entire log.

  3. Click Export.
  4. Accept or change the output file path (the default path is c:\temp\export.txt) and click OK.

Next steps

If you're still experiencing issues with GCCHN, contact Google Workspace support and include as much of the following information as possible:

  • The name and email address of the affected resource on both systems
  • The event ID of at least one event that didn't sync
  • The export of the GCCHN log database as structured text
  • The steps that cause the problem
