Meet eCDN uses the browser’s JavaScript API to retrieve a device's private IP address. The private IP address of a device is usually hidden from the browser by a feature called mDNS. To enable eCDN, you have to turn off mDNS.
Turn off mDNS safely
The mDNS feature is a security measure. We recommend you turn it off on a per-domain basis. That way, you only expose IP addresses to Google.
- Follow the instructions at Set Chrome Browser policies on managed PCs to set the WebRtcLocalIpsAllowedUrls policy in the Google Admin console.
Check mDNS status
To check if Chrome for a device has a properly set mDNS policy:
- In any Chrome address bar, enter chrome://policy/
- Filter the policy list for WebRtcLocalIpsAllowedUrls. The policy should include meet.google.com
