File migration copies files and other related data from your Microsoft OneDrive business editions to your organizations’ Google Workspace users’ My Drive accounts. File migration doesn’t delete or modify existing Google Workspace or OneDrive files or folders, but not all features in OneDrive are supported. Review the table below for details.

Anyone links
An item in OneDrive can have multiple sharable Anyone links. |
Anyone with the link links
An item in Google Workspace can only have one sharable link labeled Anyone with the link. When multiple links to the same item are migrated, we use the most restrictive sharing setting. For example, if a OneDrive link is shared with Writer and Reader permissions, the link will migrate to Google Workspace with Viewer permission. |
People in your organization links |
Domain-based link permission In the case of multiple links, Google Workspace uses the most restrictive sharing setting. For example, if a OneDrive link is shared with Writer and Reader permissions, the link will migrate to Google Workspace with Viewer permission. |
People you choose links |
Added as direct user permission with the highest role selected in case of multiple links on a user or group. |
External user permissions | OneDrive folders or files that are shared with external users are shared with the same users in Google Workspace. External users will also receive email notifications when new files or folders are shared with them. External users do not have to be included in the identity map. |
