Understand the file migration report (beta)

File migration for the new data migration service is currently in beta and subject to the Pre-General Availability Offerings Terms in the Google Workspace Service Specific Terms.

You can access a report with detailed information on the items in your file migration.

Access the report

You must be signed in as a super administrator for this task.

  1. Sign in to your Google Admin console.

    Sign in using an account with super administrator privileges (does not end in @gmail.com).

  2. In the Admin console, go to Menu and then Dataand thenData import & exportand thenData migration.
  3. At the top, click Go to data migration (New).
  4. For Microsoft OneDrive, click Migrate.
  5. Click Export migration report.
  6. If the Tasks list doesn't open automatically with the downloaded report, click Tasks .
  7. For Your Tasks, click the link to open in Google Sheets.

Interpret the migration report

You can use the migration report to identify items that didn't migrate and the reasons they weren’t able to be transferred.

The data migration tool wasn’t able to connect to your Microsoft OneDrive account.

 
  1. Verify that the Microsoft administrator account has the Global Administrator role.
  2. Run a delta migration.

Failed to crawl parent item permissions while crawling permissions for Drive ID drive_id and source ItemId item_id

A transient error that can be corrected by running a delta migration.

Failed to crawl folder as one of the upstream dependency task for Drive id: drive_id, Folder id: folder_id has failed.

A parent folder failed to migrate and it wasn’t possible to crawl any of its child folders.

  1. Search the report for the listed folder ID to find out why the parent folder failed. 
  2. Correct the error in the parent folder. 
  3. Run a delta migration.

Found microsoft drive item with restricted permissions. Drive id: drive_id, Item id: item_id.

The file or folder has restricted permissions. Items with restricted permissions are not supported by migration tool. 

User provided in identity mapping does not belong to a Workspace customer

A target user email ID in the identity map is not a Google Workspace email ID.

  1. Remove the identity map.
  2. Correct the destination email ID.
  3. Re-upload the map.

Internal error occurred

A transient error that can be corrected by running a delta migration.

Found entries missing in the identity mapping for <username>

A source user is not mapped to a target user in the identity map. 

  1. Remove the identity map.
  2. Correct the source user mapping.
  3. Re-upload the map.

For details, go to create & upload an identity map.

The item shared with "Anyone with the link" on the source could not be shared with the same setting on the target file on Google Drive.

We couldn’t share the item with the “Anyone with the link” setting. For details, go to external sharing for your organization.
Item is created by a non-user identity. The file or folder was created by a non-user identity. Files created by non-user identities in Microsoft are not supported.
Item is last modified by a non-user identity. The file or folder was last modified by a non-user identity. Files and folders modified by non-user identities in Microsoft are not supported.
