To complete these steps, you need the appropriate User management privilege. Without this privilege, you won't see all the controls needed to complete these steps.

Status definitions
- Active
The user has full access to their account, unless the status is in red text (later on this page).
Note: Active users might not have a Google Workspace or other product license assigned to them. Learn more about licenses.
- Active (red text)
The user has exceeded one of Gmail’s resource limits, such as the mail sending limit, and is temporarily restricted from some or all actions in Gmail. The user can still use other Google Workspace services.
To determine if you can reactivate the user's Gmail immediately, see Restore a suspended Gmail account. See Policies for these limitations and Gmail best practices for avoiding them.
- Suspended by admin
The user account has been temporarily suspended by an administrator. The user's profile and associated information, like documents and presentations, are not deleted. The user can't sign in to their account until an administrator restores the suspended account.
-
Suspended by admin (red text)
The user's account has at least one additional exception, such as an error during the account deletion process.
- Automatically suspended
Google has suspended the user's account for mail abuse or other breaches of the the Google Terms of Service. See Restore a suspended account for more information.
- Automatically suspended (red text)
The user's account might be at risk. See Restore a suspended account for more information.
- Archived
The administrator archived the user account. The user can’t access Google services, but their data is safely retained. You can archive both active and suspended users. For details, go to Archive former employee accounts.
