Programmatic delivery channels

Learn about the methods buyers can use to access your inventory

The following table defines the delivery channels that can potentially serve for the request you are inspecting.  These channels represent the sources through which you can monetize this set of inventory.

Note that for the channels denoted as “Open Auction,” only one channel needs to be eligible to serve. Ad Manager will show only the delivery channel(s) that were used for the request, even if other channels were technically eligible.

Open Auction: Line item

In this context, the line item refers to inventory you’ve made available to buyers on the open auction by allowing Ad Exchange or AdSense line item types to serve to those buyers specifically. For information about Ad Exchange, refer to Ad Exchange line items. To learn more about AdSense line items, refer to Option 3 in this article.

Open Auction: Inventory unit

Inventory you’ve made available to buyers of AdSense at the ad unit level. Use this setting when you only want smaller portions of your ad units available to AdSense. Refer to Option 2 in this article for more information.

Open Auction: Network level

Inventory you’ve made available to AdSense buyers at the network level. Use this setting when you want all or most of your ad units to be available for AdSense backfill. Refer to Option 1 in this article for more information.

Yield Group (Open Bidding/Mediation)

Inventory you want to sell with Ad Exchange, Open Bidding, or mediation for mobile apps. Learn more about creating and managing yield groups.

First Look

Inventory you’ve made available to specific Ad Exchange programmatic buyers. Learn more about First Look

Programmatic Guaranteed

Inventory you’ve reserved (or guaranteed) for a specific buyer based on your negotiations while setting up the campaign.

Preferred Deals

Inventory you’ve given a particular buyer priority (or preferred) access to bid on at a pre-negotiated price. This inventory is not reserved or guaranteed, because you and the buyer have the option of completing the deal but are not obligated to do so. Learn about the similarities and differences between Programmatic Guaranteed and Preferred Deals
