Access regional data

For EEA publishers
This article is for customers who use Google's online and offline solutions and receive data from end users in the European Economic Area (EEA).

If your billing address is in the EEA, you can access several event-level data files using regional data access.

With regional data access, you can report on non-aggregate, event-level data related to your Google Ad Manager product usage.

This data is essentially raw content from the Ad Manager ad server logs, with a separate file generated for each type of event. The files contain event data that is accurate to the second. You can choose to include other information in the files to view device, geography, and other data related to the event.

About regional data access and Data Transfer

The general functionality of regional data access is similar to Data Transfer. To learn more about working with these files and fields, you can explore Data Transfer reports.

  • Regional data access is available to publishers in the EEA, determined by network billing address, to report on non-aggregated, event-level data for EEA activities.
  • Data Transfer is available only for Google Ad Manager 360. If you have Data Transfer and an eligible EEA billing address, you can also enable regional data access.

Required permissions

To use regional data access, users on your network must:

  • Have the Administrator role to add the desired file types and fields to your configuration.
  • Have the following permissions as needed:
    • Modify regional data access fields: Lets users change included fields.
    • View data transfer buckets: Lets users access the storage buckets. Users in the Administrator role have this permission enabled by default. To manage permissions for user roles, click Admin, and then Access & authorization.
  • Be in the group created for the storage bucket to access the files.
Note that the person who enables regional data access is automatically added to the group. They can then add other users manually. For details, jump to Access the data.
Q4 2024 update: Make sure your intended users have the new Ad Manager permission to view data transfer storage buckets. Learn more about the change in accessing data transfer storage buckets.

Set up regional data access

Note: Regional data access requires an Ad Manager account. If you don’t yet have an Ad Manager account, visit Sign up for Ad Manager to create one.

Step 1: Request regional data access

To get started, you first request regional data access for your Ad Manager network:

  1. Sign in to Google Ad Manager.

  2. Click Admin, then Global settings.
This step requires the Admin permission in your Ad Manager network.

  3. Under “Network settings,” scroll down to “Report settings” and enable On Request regional data access.
  4. Click Save.

After we process your request, we’ll configure your account. When configuration is complete, you’ll find “Regional data access” under “Admin” in Ad Manager, usually within 5 to 10 business days.

Step 2: Configure regional data access files and fields

  1. Sign in to Google Ad Manager.
  2. Click Admin, and then Regional data access.
  3. Click New configuration.
  4. Select an event type and add fields.
Note: Available event types include Impressions, Clicks, Requests, Code Serves, Bids, and Minimum Bid to Win. For more details on file set up, visit Set up Data Transfer file types, which is similar.
  5. (Optional) Select a custom separator for the items in your file.
  6. Click Save.

Step 3: Access the data

Note: Access to Data Transfer storage buckets is moving from Google Groups to a new Ad Manager user role permission. Access via Google Groups ends in January 2025. Learn more about the migration.

The files are kept in Ad Manager cloud storage buckets. You can access them on the web, with a command line tool, or through an API.

  1. Sign in to Google Ad Manager.

  2. Click Admin, and then Regional data access

  3. Click an event type.
  4. To access the file data, under “Google storage page with the files,” click the link.
Note that accessing the data requires you to be a member of the shown Google group for Google Cloud Storage.
  5. Process the data for your query.
Learn more about using the data, which is similar to using Data transfer report files. For detailed sample queries, visit Review Data Transfer sample queries. The functionality is similar.
