Traffic native ads in Google Ad Manager

Select how you want to create your native ad

Once you've decided which ad units to target for native ads, you can begin to create your native ads. This article describes the 3 options available to you. To get started:

  1. Sign in to Google Ad Manager.
  2. Navigate to Delivery, then Native.
  3. Click New native style.
  4. Select how you want to create your native ad. Here are the options:

Guided design editor

Use this option if you:

  • Want to use native ads for traditional and programmatic transactions.
  • Want controls to build and style a native ad without the need to write code. You can use templates or let Google design the native ad to get started quickly. You still have the option of modifying these styles using HTML and CSS.
  • Want to use one or more of the four standard formats.

Note: These are only examples. The templates for native content ads and native app install ads have multiple layout configuration options.

NoteWhile you don't have to create a style for each format, it's recommended that you at least create a native content ad, which is the most common. If you want all types of ads to appear on your site or app, create a style for each of the four standard formats.

If you don't want to customize a style for each format, you can use the "Use Google-designed native styles" option, which allows one style to be applied to all formats.

HTML & CSS

Use this option if you:

  • Want to use native ads for traditional transactions and for Publisher-managed creatives for Programmatic Guaranteed (this is the only type of supported programmatic transaction).
  • Prefer to have full control over the styling of your native ads on websites. This option lets you create a style entirely on your own, using the HTML & CSS that you specify.
  • Prefer to create custom native formats that allow you to define new variables for ad content.

Android & iOS app code

Use this option if you:

  • Want to use native ads for traditional transactions and for Publisher-managed creatives for Programmatic Guaranteed (this is the only type of supported programmatic transaction).
  • Prefer to have full control over the content and styling of your native ad on apps. You don't need to create a style in this option; you create custom native formats that allow you to define new variables for ad content.
