Blocks

Universal inventory blocks for the Open Auction

Use an inventory exclusion protection to make a universal block for the Open Auction.

  1. Sign in to Google Ad Manager.
  2. Click Protections and then Protections.
  3. Click New protection and select Inventory exclusion.
  4. Name the protection.
  5. Select the "Inventory type" for the protection.
  6. In "Targeting", select either "Protect all inventory" or "Only protect specified inventory" to reflect the needs for the Open Auction.
  7. Click Save.

Blocks on specific buyers, advertisers, or brands for the Open Auction

Use an ad content protection to block specific buyers, advertisers, or brands for the Open Auction.

  1. Sign in to Google Ad Manager.
  2. Click Protections and then Protections.
  3. Click New protection and select Ad content.
  4. Name the protection.
  5. Select the "Inventory type" for the protection.
  6. In "Targeting", select either "Protect all inventory" or "Only protect specified inventory" to reflect the needs for the Open Auction.
  7. Under "Blocks":

    • Click Add next to "Buyers"
    • Select the buyers you want to block.
    • Click Update
  8. For advertisers or brands

    • Click Add next to "Advertisers/Brands"
    • Ensure Block the following advertisers &/or brands is selected
    • Select the advertisers/brands you want to block.
    • When you select Block any advertisers or brands that are not classified:
      • An advertiser is considered "unclassified" if it doesn't appear on our list of advertisers available for setting pricing rules. Any brands belonging to these advertisers are also considered unclassified.
      • If none of our existing categories are applicable to an ad, the ad belongs to an unclassified category. The block only applies to categories included in a protection.
      • Unclassified advertisers are only blocked on the open auction.
      • You cannot block an individual unclassified brand. You can only block an unclassified advertiser, which will block all of its associated brands.
    • Click Update

    For buyers

  9. Click Save.

Branding

Brand settings for the Open Auction

Use a combination of URLs and unified pricing rules to specify pricing for branded and semi-transparent options.

URLs

  1. Sign in to Google Ad Manager.
  2. Click Inventory and then URLs.
  3. Click New URL.
  4. Enter a URL that represents the inventory you want to price.
  5. Select an inventory type.
  6. Select Branded or Semi-transparent.
  7. Click Save for the URL.

Unified pricing rules

  1. Navigate to Inventory and then Pricing rules.
  2. Click New unified pricing rule.
  3. Name the unified pricing rule.
  4. Set targeting.
    • Set targeting to reflect the Open Auction.
    • Target the URL you set up in URLs.
  5. Select a pricing option : 
    • Set pricing for everyone and all sizes
    • Set pricing for specific advertisers, brands, or size 
  6. Set and enter the price as set in the Open Auction rule: 
    • Set floor prices
    • Set target CPMs 
  7. Click Save.
